Allyson Gofton: A mother's terrifying experience with concussion

You probably recognise Allyson Gofton best from the iconic Food in a Minute, a one minute long cooking show-advertisment hybrid that she hosted for 13 years. After leaving Food in a Minute, Allyson has continued to write cookbooks, including her latest, Give which is all focused around creating delicious food to give as a gift. 

However, you probably don't know the struggle Allyson and her family went through for years after her son Jean-Luc suffered a severe concussion during a high school hockey game. Allyson believes that concussions have become so commonplace and normalised that most people don't fully understand how dangerous they actually are. 

In the epsiode, Allyson tells Toni Street the heart-wrenching story of what Jean-Luc went through and the years long recovery it entailed, the incredible toll it had on their whole family, and why she believes there should be more education around concussions.
