The New Zealand sugar tax has been a topic that Jamie Oliver has had a passion for since it was first discussed.

The famous British chef was scheduled to open a conference about the tax earlier this month but wasn't able to make it, so he sent this video instead.

The video was sent to the new minister of health David Clark, who didn't end up going to the symposium but sent the health ministry deputy director general Maree Roberts instead.

This video comes just a year after Jamie slammed the National party over their absence from the sugar tax conference.

In the four-minute rant, Jamie calls the government "a disgrace and "disgusting".

It's certainly a contrast to this year's video!

What do you think of the possible sugar tax?
