Coronavirus: New Zealand has had two more deaths linked to COVID-19

Sadly, New Zealand has had two more coronavirus-related deaths.

The first death was 62-year-old Invercargill woman Jocelyn Finlayson, who died overnight in Dunedin Hospital after being in ICU for two weeks.

Bloomfield confirmed that arrangements were made for her family to be with her last night as she passed away.

The second death is a man in his 70s from the Rosewood rest home cluster.

This brings the death toll to 16, including nine from the Rosewood cluster.

Today New Zealand has 3 new cases of COVID-19 - bringing the total number of cases in New Zealand to 1,451, says Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield.

There are 2 new confirmed cases and 1 probable case today.

There are 8 people in hospital, including one in ICU in Middlemore Hospital.

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 is up to 1,065 - up 29 on yesterday's number.

On Monday the Government announced the country would be lifted out of lockdown and move into alert level 3 at 11.59pm on Monday, April 27.
