Coronavirus: New Zealand has two new confirmed case of COVID-19

Today New Zealand has two new confirmed case of COVID-19 - taking the total number of cases in New Zealand to 1,490, Director of Public Health Caroline McElnay says.

The total of confirmed cases is 1,141.

There are no new deaths today.

The death toll remains at 21, including 12 from the Rosewood cluster.

There are three people in hospital, none of whom are in ICU.

The number of people who have recovered from COVID-19 is up to 1,347 - up 15 on yesterday's number.

This means 90 per cent of all confirmed and probable cases are now recovered.

Cabinet will decide on Monday whether the country is ready to move to alert level 2, based on the advice of Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield.

Bloomfield said yesterday he would need the latest data before providing advice, but for the moment the signs were good and there was still no indication of widespread community transmission.
