Cyclist Ellesse Andrews has won New Zealand's 18th medal of the Tokyo Olympics after claiming silver in the women's keirin today.

Netherland's Shanne Braspennincx claimed gold, while Canada's Lauriane Genest won bronze.

Following the race Andrews said: "I can't stop crying.

"I think in a keirin you just have to get the absolute right balance of physical effort and tactical execution. To get that right today and to get a silver medal, I'm so proud of myself."

This is the 21-year-old's first time competing at the Olympics.

Congratulations Ellesse!
