The Duchess of Cambridge wowed royal fans this weekend as she paraded down the Mall in a chic white Alexander McQueen dress to celebrate Trooping the Colour.

And part of her outfit included a very special nod to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

Teaming the blazer style dress with a navy and white Philip Treacy saucer hat, the mother-of-three also accessorised with a pair of dazzling sapphire and diamond earrings that once belonged to the People's Princess.

The precious earrings were a favourite of Princess Diana's as they perfectly matched her engagement ring.

The double drop pair was originally given to Diana as a wedding gift as part of a suite of jewels from Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia.

"This is the first time we've seen Kate wear this pair of earrings in public," Lauren Kiehna, writer of The Court Jeweller blog, said.

Kate was joined in her carriage by Prince George, Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte and the Duchess of Cornwall as the jubilant crowd cheered.

Trooping the Colour was the first of many events the Cambridges attended this weekend in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
