Meghan Markle required to drop her HRH title on daughter Lilibet Diana's birth certificate

It's not your standard birth certificate - with a father's name listed as The Duke of Sussex His Royal Highness.

Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor's birth certificate was obtained by TMZ last week, 21 days after she arrived into the world.

However, unlike on her son Archie's birth certificate, Meghan Markle was legally required to use her maiden name, as is the rules in Santa Barbara, California.

The certificate - which can be viewed HERE - shows that the 39-year-old has listed herself as "Rachel Meghan Markle," whereas on Archie's certificate she used "Rachel Meghan Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex."

Prince Harry was also required to use his legal name on Lilibet's birth certificate, which is "The Duke of Sussex, His Royal Highness."

This title is shorter than the full name he used on Archie's certificate, where he listed himself as "His Royal Highness Henry Charles Albert David Duke of Sussex."

Though Meghan had to use her maiden name on Lili's birth certificate, she is still using the Duchess of Sussex title in other areas of her life.

Lilibet was born on Friday 4 June at 11:40am at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

She is named after both her great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth, and her late grandmother, Princess Diana.

The Duke and Duchess have yet to release a photograph of baby Lili.
