During the fourth day of their first official five-day tour of Pakistan, Prince William and Duchess Kate paid tribute to Princess Diana's work with cancer patients in a sweet post on Instagram.

The royal couple visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, which was also visited by William's late mother twice in the '90s - in February of 1996 and May of 1997.

Taking to Instagram, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a heartwarming throwback photo of Princess Diana during her visit to the hospital.

Dressed in an elegant, powder-blue dress, Diana can be seen kneeling next to an infant on a hospital table as they made eye contact.

The accompanying caption read: "In 1996 and 1997 Diana, Princess of Wales visited the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, a state-of-the-art cancer facility located in the centre of Lahore.

"Over twenty years on, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit the children’s ward at the hospital today to spend time with patients undergoing treatment, and speak to their families."

The hospital - which was founded in 1994 by Pakistan's current Prime Minister, Imran Khan - held a special place in Princess Diana's heart.
