As Buckingham Palace released the first official portrait of the new reign, the Princess of Wales paid a touching tribute to her beloved grandfather-in-law.

Pictured alongside King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla and Prince William from the eve of the Queen's funeral, Kate Middleton remembered the late Prince Philip with her outfit.

Looking elegant in her all-black mourning ensemble, Kate wore the same black Catherine Walker coat dress with buttons and bow-neck detailing that she wore for Philip's funeral in Windsor last April.

The official photo of the new royal line-up was taken just before the King and Queen Consort hosted world leaders at a Buckingham Palace reception.

In the picture, Charles can be seen standing with his hand in his pocket while his arm is tucked around the Queen Consort's waist.

Prince William stood proudly next to his father in the middle, supported by Kate who put a loving hand on his back.
