Following the announcement Queen Elizabeth II has tested positive for Covid-19, Her Majesty has now cancelled her all virtual engagements due to symptoms of the virus.

Buckingham Palace had initially revealed the 95-year-old monarch was only experiencing mild, cold-like symptoms and had planned to carry on working.

However, they have now announced she won't be undertaking any video meetings.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: "As Her Majesty is still experiencing mild cold-like symptoms she has decided not to undertake her planned virtual engagements today, but will continue with light duties."

It is understood engagements scheduled over the course of the next week will be decided on nearer the time.

The palace said the Queen, who has been fully vaccinated and had a booster shot, is receiving medical attention and is following all the appropriate guidelines.

People in the UK who test positive for Covid are required to self-isolate for at least five days, although the British government says it plans to lift that requirement for England this week.

Both the Queen's eldest son Prince Charles, 73, and her 74-year-old daughter-in-law Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall contracted Covid-19 earlier this month.

Charles has since returned to work. There are also thought to be several recent virus cases among staff at Windsor Castle, where the Queen is staying.

We're wishing the Queen a speedy recovery!
