It has been a big year for royal weddings!

First, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018.

Then, six months later, Princess Eugenie walked down the same aisle to marry her fiance, Jack Brooksbank, on October 12.

Most recently, Lady Gabriella Windsor married Thomas Kingston on May 18, again at St George’s Chapel.

And now, Monaco has celebrated their own royal wedding!

On Friday 26 July, Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III's grandson Louis Ducruet tied the knot with his fiancée Marie Chevallier in a beautiful civil ceremony, ahead of a religious ceremony on Saturday at the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate on Saturday - the same venue where Rainier wed his American actress bride more than 60 years before.

The newlyweds made sure Louis' ancestors were not forgotten on their big day, choosing the venue because Louis wanted to be close to his grandparents, who are buried alongside each other in the cathedral.

According to Monaco Matin, the 26-year-old and his bride made their way to Prince Rainier and Grace's graves to place flowers at their resting places in honour of them.

Speaking about the venue before the wedding, Louis said: "At some point, he will be with me during the wedding ceremony at the cathedral.

"That's why we chose it, and Marie supported me in this decision, even though the place is big and there's a protocol, but that's the only way for my grandfather to be with us."

For the occasion, Marie chose to wear an ultra-chic white silk crepe jumpsuit with embroidered lace at the waist by Rosa Clará for the civil ceremony.

The sleeveless design featured a discrete V-neckline and an exquisite open back.

For Saturday's traditional cathedral wedding, Marie wore a stunning gown touchingly designed by Louis' younger sister, Pauline Ducruet and Atelier Boisanger.

The dress was made of Silk Zagar and embroidered Chantilly Lace, which reportedly took more than 300 hours of work to create.

Later in the day, the bride changed into another look by Rosa Clará.

The gorgeous lace dress featured a beautiful deep neckline, subtle beaded appliqués, and a bold short hemline under a spectacular extra-soft tulle and embroidered overskirt.

The guest list of 200 people was made up of many senior members of Monaco's royal family, including the reigning Prince Albert, Louis' mother Princess Stephanie and Princess Caroline.

Louis, who is the son of Monaco's Princess Stéphanie and her ex-husband Daniel Ducruet, met Marie seven years ago while attending SKEMA Business School in France together.

The pair got engaged in February 2018 when Louis proposed while they were in Vietnam.

Louis took to Instagram to announce the news, sharing a romantic picture of him on one knee in front of Marie at the Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai beach.

He captioned the photo: "Let me introduce you the future madam Ducruet she said yes and we are now engaged."

Louis is currently 15th in line to the Monegasque throne.
