It seems Sir Rod Stewart has temporarily swapped out his singing career for football coaching ...

Stepping onto the field, the legendary rocker worked with his son Aiden's football team, Hoops - coaching them and giving them a heartwarming pep-talk before their game.

Taking to social media, the 76-year-old singer shared a video of the moment he encouraged the team to "try hard" and "enjoy" the game.

Sporting a black tracksuit, he can be heard saying: "Okay, today's game. Look at me, all I can tell you is let's try hard which you always do.

"The teams that have given you trouble are the teams that pass the ball. If we can pass the ball a lot more we'll do really well. No dribbling in your own box and enjoy it. Off you go."

"I've never said this before about any previous efforts, but I believe this is by far my best album in many a year."

Rod is set to release a brand new album, Tears Of Hercules, on November 12 featuring 12 new songs.
