A US police department in Massachusetts was left stumped after their Christmas charity toys kept going missing ...

That was until they found the furry culprit; the office dog.

Officers in Franklin had been collecting toys to hand over to the Santa Foundation, an organisation that donates presents to families in need during Christmas.

But the toys kept disappearing.

It wasn't long before Ben Franklin, the therapy dog who comforts children who are in crisis, was caught red-handed.

Ben has since been banned from the collection room.
