Returning to the stage for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour last week after testing positive for Covid-19, Sir Elton John awkwardly thanked the wrong city.

Taking to Twitter following his Kansas City, Missouri show at T-Mobile Center, the 74-year-old music legend shared a sweet message for the attendees alongside a series of photos from the concert.

"What a great night @tmobilecenter in Arkansas City! Thank you to everyone who came down – you were all amazing," the Rocket Man wrote.

Arkansas City, Kansas, is located about 364 kilometres (a 3.5-hour drive) southwest of Kansas City, Missouri.

It’s unclear if John himself or someone on his team hit "send" on the erroneous tweet.

The 'Tiny Dancer' hitmaker's rescheduled 2020 North American tour kicked off on January 19 in New Orleans and was scheduled to make stops in Houston, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, New York and Miami.

His tour this year also spans Europe and back to North America, before heading to Australia and New Zealand next year.

He hasn't announced a final date of the tour yet, but he’s indicated he may play select shows after it ends.
