King Charles and Kate Middleton have both been released from hospital

King Charles and the Princess of Wales have both been discharged from the hospital after their respective treatments. 

King Charles was in the hospital for three nights, longer than the overnight stay initially expected for successful treatment of an enlarged prostate.

The King and Queen Camilla dressed smartly and beaming, waved to well-wishers outside the hospital at 3 pm. As he left, the King was heard to say that he was “grateful for everyone’s kind wishes”, thanking the crowd that had gathered outside.

It is understood he will require around a month off from public engagements – the longest he has been off-duty as monarch.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow

Princess Kate – who went into the London Clinic for planned surgery on January 16 – is at home at Adelaide Cottage, Windsor, and is said to be doing well.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: “The Princess of Wales has returned home to Windsor to continue her recovery from surgery. She is making good progress.

“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at the London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided. The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”

 

The princess will return to public duties only when her doctors agree.

Prince William will recommence public engagements when the princess is settled at home, said a source. He had been to visit his wife in hospital, but her three young children were not seen there, instead attending school as usual. The King is understood to have visited her on Friday.
