Archie Harrison is embarking on his first official royal tour!

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have closely guarded their newborn son since his birth at the beginning of May.

But now royal watchers will be delighted that little Archie is finally set to make a public appearance, as joining his mum and dad as they head out on their first tour as a family of three later this year.

The royal couple has confirmed they will be travelling to South Africa, with Harry also making stops in Botswana, Malawi and Angola.

Taking to social media, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wrote: "TRH The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited to announce that they have been asked to carry out a tour to Southern Africa this autumn. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office have requested a visit to South Africa as well as The Duke carrying out visits to Malawi and Angola. His Royal Highness will also do a short working visit to Botswana en route to the other countries."

"The Duke and Duchess are really looking forward to meeting so many of you on the ground and continuing to raise awareness of the high impact work local communities are doing across the Commonwealth and beyond. This will be their first official tour as a family!"

The 34-year-old royal dad will stop by Lesotho for his charity Sentebale - an organisation that supports the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people affected by HIV - in honour of his late mother Princess Diana, who worked with the government to help clear land mines in the region when she was alive.

The upcoming tour will likely last around two weeks and will begin just as Meghan is ending her maternity leave.

Africa holds a special place in Harry and Meghan's hearts, as the pair travelled to Botswana early on in their relationship, and again before getting engaged in 2017.

Botswana is also where the Duke sourced the centre diamond of Meghan's engagement ring - so it's no surprise the couple wants to introduce their son to the continent.
